BUBBLES UPDATE- I just received this Happy news on BUBBLES :

Hi Ron,

Bubbles’s caregiver Elizabeth and I wanted to give you an update.

Enrichment: Bubbles loves treats made with pine cones– smeared with oatmeal or peanut butter and frozen. This makes the apes work harder for their treat, but Bubbles also loves to chew on the pinecones even when all of the food on it is gone.

New/Current Favorite Foods: Bubbles loves drinks! We always try to give extra fluids, especially on hot days. Bubbles will drink as much as you will give him! He likes to sit right in front of the water mister with his drinks.

Who He Is Currently Spending Time With: Bubbles lives with Jessie, Boma, Ripley, and Oopsie. He enjoys his alone time as well as quiet time with his caregivers. He also likes hanging out in the cupola with his friend Ripley or playing with Oopsie, the only one who can bring out his silly, playful side.

Bubbles is very shy and quiet, except when Oopsie can get him to play and be silly. She will nudge him with her foot until he starts playing with her. Sometimes his caregiver will catch them tickling and grabbing each other’s hands and feet as well as giggling when they think no one is watching.

Bubbles loves attention from his caregivers and visitors. Out of nowhere, you will hear two quick raspberries. You can look over to see him pretending it wasn’t him!

He likes to carry tiny twigs and leaves around in his mouth. It’s an adorable sight to see a huge, almost 200 lb chimpanzee delicately holding a tiny twig or leaf in his lips! And, if you’re lucky, he will bend down and offer his treasures to you by greatly dropping them down to you through the mesh.
