#OnThisDay May 26th, 2000. Dame Elizabeth Taylor was inundated with tributes at the 8th night of racing in her honor. The Hollywood legend who arrived at London's Royal Albert Hall hand in hand with #MichaelJackson received a standing ovation from the audience.
The audience rose to its feet as Dame, 68, stepped forward to give a speech. Returning to her familiar theme of AIDS awareness, "Although we have made giant strides in treating this terrible disease, unfortunately the benefits of this research are only available to a few. "
Giving a second standing ovation, Michael Jackson took the stage with a huge bouquet of white flowers. He doesn't perform, but he looks relaxed in his first appearance on a British stage after three years.
