The Outer Critics Circle Awards are presented annually for theatrical achievements both on Broadway and Off-Broadway. They are presented by the Outer Critics Circle, the official organization of New York theatre writers for out-of-town newspapers, digital and national publications, and other media beyond Broadway. The Nominees have been announced for the 2021-22 (71st) Awards, and they include MJ The Musical in the Outstanding New Broadway Musical category, and Myles Frost for Outstanding Actor in a Musical, Quentin Earl Darrington for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical, Christopher Wheeldon for Outstanding Director of a Musical, Christopher Wheeldon and Rich + Tone Talauega for Outstanding Choreography, David Holcenberg and Jason Michael Webb for Outstanding Orchestrations, Natasha Katch for Outstanding Lighting Design (Play or Musical). That makes a total of 7 nominations for MJ: The Musical. The Outer Critics Circle Award winners will be announced May 16 with an in-person ceremony scheduled for May 26 at the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Centre.
