I’ve seen the new Michael film with some of his former friends and my family, based on Michael Jackson’s life… and I see it very differently to most people
I knew him for over a decade as a friend and bodyguard, so I’m not speaking from the outside. I was there behind the scenes… and there is a lot more to his story than what’s been shown
The good and the bad.
The film is entertaining and I’d encourage people to go and see it. It celebrates the music and the legacy, and Jaafar Jackson did a great job. Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson was also unbelievable.
But at its core, it’s a musical entertainment piece… not the full truth of his life
For me, one of the biggest issues is how heavily it leans on his father. From what I saw, that’s a very one-sided portrayal. In later years, Michael had forgiven him and spoke about him with far more balance.
There are also major parts of his life missed… his humanitarian work, key relationships, and people like Janet Jackson, Diana Ross, and Randy Jackson who played huge roles in his journey
I also saw first-hand how things were handled behind the scenes during some of the toughest periods… and it didn’t always match what the public were being told. Like he used to say… “the bigger the star, the bigger the target”
Overall, it’s a powerful and enjoyable film and it will introduce him to a new generation.
But knowing him personally, he was a perfectionist… and I don’t believe he would have been fully happy with this final cut.
He would have wanted more truth, more balance, and more clarity… especially when it comes to clearing his name.
As for the negative movie reviews , the critics must’ve seen a different movie to what I did and as usual attempted a smear campaign to cancel my old pal Michael Jackson- the King of Pop
