Nell'affollatissimo Civic Auditorium di Pasadena, in California, il Re del Pop si esibì infatti in 'Billie Jean', eseguendo pubblicamente il passo di danza che, da quel momento in poi, sarebbe diventato un indissolubile marchio di fabbrica nella sua carriera di artista.

Trasmesso dalla NBC il 16 maggio dello stesso anno, il suo Moonwalk fu visto e osannato da 47 milioni di americani, per poi diffondersi rapidamente in tutto il globo.

My mother was a special woman. This picture says so much about who she was. Holding a baseball trophy although she never played one game. That’s how much she meant to so many teams my brothers and I played on that she would earn awards too! She led with her heart and did everything she could to make her community and the groups we were part of better. I love you mom and I miss you terribly…but I will say I am so grateful to have the time I did spend with you, to learn from you and to have your guidance.
